Curuna Ardez is an artist-run exhibition and meeting space located in the heart of the historic Romansh-speaking village of Ardez in the Lower Engadin. Originally built as a farmhouse, the building served as the Gasthaus Krone (Curuna) from the late 19th century onwards, when it also acquired its distinctive North Italian Neo-Renaissance façade.

In 2013, the house was acquired by artist MAYO Bucher, whose practice explores the relationship between architecture, space, and cultural identity. Built on medieval foundations together with its adjacent former barn (Tabla), the Curuna is situated on the village’s historic Via Maistra, surrounded by traditional Engadine houses adorned with characteristic sgraffito façades.

Following a careful and ongoing restoration, the Curuna has evolved into a place where artistic practice, architecture, and exchange intersect. While serving as a studio house for the artist, his family, and guests, it also opens periodically as an experimental venue for exhibitions, conversations, and interdisciplinary encounters, fostering dialogue between contemporary art and the unique cultural landscape of the Engadin.
